Florida

Florida was the 27 state admitted to the states. The first people to live in Florida arrived more than 12,000 years ago. Spanish conquistador  Ponce de León sailed to Florida in 1513 searching for gold and silver.  Spain gave up Florida to the U.S in exchange for Spanish rule over

Texas.  British took control of Florida from Spain in exchange for the land that is know as  Havana, Cuba. To this day Native Americans called Seminoles still live in Florida.
